After arriving in Colombo, depending on your arrival time, immerse yourself in the vibrant mix of cultures that define the city. Start with a visit to the Gangaramaya Temple, where you can witness the harmonious blend of Buddhist, Hindu, and indigenous architecture.
Stroll through the bustling streets of Pettah, where the sights, sounds, and aromas of the local markets will awaken your senses. Don’t miss the chance to sample some delicious street food specialties.
In the evening, head to the Galle Face Green promenade to catch a breathtaking sunset over the Indian Ocean. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the waterfront, soaking in the lively atmosphere.

Day 02: Colombo - Kitulgala
After breakfast in the city, it’s time to trade urban buzz for untamed wilderness. Set off on a scenic drive to Kitulgala, a lush rainforest region nestled along the Kelani River. Along the way, watch the landscape shift from bustling streets to misty hills, verdant tea-covered slopes, and the tranquil flow of jungle rivers.

By midday, arrive in Kitulgala, Sri Lanka’s adventure capital, where nature roars and the river beckons. After a quick check-in and gear-up, dive into a thrilling white-water rafting experience on the Kelani River, navigating through exhilarating rapids surrounded by towering rainforest and echoing birdcalls.

Post-rafting, enjoy a hearty lunch and then head out for a guided trek into the Makandawa Rainforest Reserve. This ancient forest is home to gushing waterfalls, hidden streams, and an incredible variety of flora and fauna. You might spot exotic birds, monkeys, and even rare amphibians along the shaded trails.

Dinner & Overnight stay at Kitulgala.
Day 03: Kitulgala - Riverston
Fuel up with an early breakfast, then bid farewell to the roaring rivers of Kitulgala as you journey inland toward the mystical highlands of Riverston — an off-the-beaten-path gem in Sri Lanka’s Knuckles Mountain Range. The drive winds through tea plantations, pine forests, and mist-kissed hills that grow more dramatic with every turn.

Arrive in Riverston by midday, where the crisp mountain air and panoramic vistas welcome you to a completely different side of the island. After check-in and a quick refresh, head out for your first highland hike — perhaps to the Riverston Tower viewpoint or along the Pitawala Pathana trail, a grassy plateau that opens up to jaw-dropping views of the Thelgamuwa Valley below. Adventurers will love the thrill of walking along the famous “Mini World’s End”, a sheer cliff edge with sweeping views across the Knuckles Range.

Dinner & Overnight stay at Riverston.
Day 04: Riverston - Nuwara Eliya
Wake up to the misty breath of the mountains and the distant call of wild birds. After breakfast, lace up your boots for one last taste of Riverston’s wilderness—perhaps a quick morning trek to a hidden waterfall or a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters of the Thelgamuwa Oya. Then, set off on a scenic drive to Nuwara Eliya, through the rolling heart of Sri Lanka’s central highlands.

En route, stop for a hot cup of freshly brewed Ceylon tea at a local tea factory and learn about the journey from leaf to cup.

Arrive in Nuwara Eliya by afternoon, where the cool climate, colonial architecture, and blooming gardens give it the nickname “Little England.” Take a leisurely walk around Gregory Lake or explore the town’s charming market. If time allows, visit Hakgala Botanical Gardens or enjoy a gentle hike through surrounding tea estates bathed in golden evening light.

Dinner & Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.
Day 05: Nuwara Eliya - Ella
After breakfast in Nuwara Eliya, prepare for one of the most iconic experiences of your Sri Lankan adventure — a breathtaking train ride from Nuwara Eliya to Ella. Often described as one of the most scenic train routes in the world, this 3 to 4-hour journey winds through misty mountain ranges, rolling tea plantations, and verdant valleys, offering an up-close view of Sri Lanka’s natural beauty.

As the train chugs along the tracks, watch as the landscapes unfold: cloud forests, cascading waterfalls, and hill stations wrapped in morning mist. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife and take in the dramatic mountain vistas as you pass small villages and lush greenery.

Upon arrival in Ella, you’ll be greeted by the cool highland breeze and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Ella Rock or the Nine Arches Bridge, a stunning railway bridge that offers dramatic views over the valley below.

If you prefer a more relaxed afternoon, enjoy a leisurely stroll around the town, savoring local delicacies at one of the hillside cafés.

Dinner & Overnight stay at Ella.
Day 06: Ella - Yala
Wake up to the soft light filtering through the Ella hills and enjoy a relaxed breakfast with views of misty peaks and tea gardens.

As you begin your descent toward Yala, make a stop at the Ravana Falls, one of the most famous and picturesque waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Cascading dramatically over a rocky cliff, this 25-meter waterfall is surrounded by legends of the Ramayana and offers a great photo opportunity.

Arrive in Yala by early afternoon and check in to your safari lodge or eco-resort. After a brief rest, it’s time for the wild heart of your adventure: an afternoon jeep safari into Yala National Park. Keep your camera ready as you venture deep into leopard territory — Yala boasts one of the highest densities of leopards in the world. But the park’s riches don’t stop there. You’ll also have the chance to spot elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, spotted deer, wild boar, and a stunning array of birdlife.

As the sun sets over the savannah, return to your lodge and enjoy a rustic dinner under the stars, with the distant calls of the jungle as your soundtrack.

Dinner & Overnight stay at Yala.
Day 07: Yala - Airport
Wake up to the sounds of nature one last time as the sun rises over the Yala wilderness. After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to the island’s untamed beauty and begin your journey back to the airport. The drive to Bandaranaike International Airport takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, so an early departure is recommended depending on your flight time.

Along the way, reflect on the unforgettable moments of your adventure — rafting through rainforest rivers, trekking misty highlands, riding the scenic train to Ella, and tracking leopards in the wild.

Depending on your departure time, if time allows, and your route passes through Galle or Matara, you may opt for a quick coastal stop for a final glimpse of Sri Lanka’s golden beaches.

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight, bidding farewell to the island paradise of Sri Lanka with a heart full of cherished experiences and a camera full of beautiful memories.
